{Basement Bathroom Progress} – Update

,

Our downstairs bathroom has come a long way.  From just being an empty room a couple months ago and now we can call it done! (well, almost, there are still a couple small things to do)  Of course there is still the funnest part – the decorating, but that will come soon.  We have been working so hard in the basement the last few months and i really haven’t felt inspired as far as decorating goes, but now that we have slowed down and i have time to breathe, it will come soon.

………………

In our basement, we used french doors going into every room, including the bathroom (a smaller size than normal).  I understand that we put glass doors on a bathroom….they will be getting curtains soon, but i need to decide on a fabric.  The doors were painted bright white, the same white used on the walls and the trim.  Im loving all the white with the gray on the top part of the walls and the dark floors.  It looks very fresh and clean.

Once you walk in, we kept everything white, except the walls.  I was a little worried with all the different shades of white, but it came together perfect and i really love it.

Because of some plumbing pipes on the floor that we had to hide, we had to be creative how they were covered.  I ended up building this shelf at the end of the tub that goes from floor to ceiling.  I really love the we ended up doing this because the bathroom is pretty big and because we went with a free standing tub, this fills up the space perfect, otherwise i think the tub would have looked too small.  Plus it will be the perfect spot for towels and such.

The back of the shelf has the same V-groove planking that i used on the rest of the walls surrounding the tub.  Everything was painted in a high gloss white.  I added the large crown molding around the top of the plank wall and the shelf to tie it all in together.

Ahhh….this is my favorite tub EVER!!!  I have always loved old clawfoot tubs, and i actually got an old one to refinish it for this space, but we decided to go ahead and get a new one instead with the high back.  I cant wait to buy one of those cute tub baskets to put across it and then take my 1st bath in here!  And i LOVE the circular curtain, i need to start looking for the perfect fabric or shower curtain.  And the exposed piping – so pretty!

The tub came as a complete set from Lowes and included all the pipes, shower curtain and the tub.  I love the style of the faucet.

Did you know that you can buy after market handles for sinks and toilets?  We found this toilet handle @ Lowes and it matches the tub faucet perfect.  How cute is that?!

I had originally planned for a large chandelier above the tub.  But when we decided to go with a tub with a shower curtain, i had to change my plans.  I found this light fixture @ Lowes and it ended up being the perfect size after it was adjusted (you can make it hang lower if you want).  I love all the shadows it casts on the wall – its really pretty in person.  Plus it adds a little “modern bling” to our vintage looking bathroom.

And in case you missed it here, this is my antique vanity that i turned into our sink.  I love this piece and am so glad i saved it all this time (i had once painted it another color to put up for sale and then just couldnt do it!!)

And then lastly, the light above the sink is a Martha Stewart one that we got from Home Depot.  I love the vintage modern look.

So there it is!  That’s our bathroom, what do you think?  I LOVE how everything turned out, its just my style and cant wait to get decorating!  I know want to rip out our master bath and replicate this room!
