{Backyard – so far}

I have been a little MIA lately – so sorry.  I have been busy with lots of little projects lately that i need to post about.   i always seem to have about 50 projects going on at once – i love to start new stuff but finishing is so hard for me!!  :)

This weekend we pretty much just worked in the yard.  I have never shown my backyard because its a few years from being done – but i might as well show the progress so far – plus thats what blogging is all about…for me anyways – showing the process :)

I wish i had a before pic of when we first moved in but i cant find them.

But, the entire backyard was flat.  We had lots of levels made with big rocks, we dug out half the backyard to make room for a walk-out basement and a patio.  Then we had lots of cement poured for a maintence free backyard.  And dont worry – there is big park across the street where the kids can play :)

We still have TONS of work – but its coming along

Right now its just a big pile of rocks :)

This is from the corner of the yard looking at the house.   You can see the line on the house where the dirt used to come up to before it was dug out.  Next weekend i am painting all the cement walls to match the house.

Walkway thats in the middle of the yard.  I planted a ton of plants so hopefully in the next couple of years it will be all filled in.  I wanted the walk-way to be covered in all sorts of plants.  I just planted whatever i liked – i didnt really plan it out.  I just went crazy.  I started counting plants a couple days ago throughout the whole yardand lost count about 250!!!

This is on the side of the house – future spot of a potting bench that i am going to make from old doors – cant wait to do that one :)

This is my free table that i got this weekend – i knocked on some ones door and asked for it!!  It was rotting away in their backyard covered in toys.  I have some plans to paint it and make some benches – hopefully i will get that done next weekend.

This is the top patio – future spot of a built in bbq and a little kitchen.

So – we have done a ton of stuff but still have so much more to do.  We are building two pergolas – one off the back of the house to cover the lower patio and one to cover the bbq area.  I am staining all the concrete and painting the back of the house next weekend.   I have some furniture to build and paint, lighting to install, tons more plants to plant.  And then the waterfall to build.  And then a shed to build.  And then build a bbq and a kitchen and a fireplace.  And then and then and then…. :)

    That table set is awesome!!! And you have given me great ideas about a small space and what I can do with stone without having to use so much of my budget on sod. Great for our move in a few months.

    Wow, that looks amazing! That table is fabulous. I didn't know you could dig out around the basement so it could be a walk out. I'll definitely will keep that in mind.

    my goodness! you make me ashamed of all the stuff I keep putting off or thinking I need someone to hire to do it. From now on, I'm going to try to do it myself first.
