{laundry room updates}

{laundry room updates}

> After i posted about my laundry room here, i was looking at the pics and decided that it all looked good except for that metal clothes rod.  The rest of the room all flows together and that metal stuck out like a big fat sore thumb :) See! So, i decided to fix that little problem and all i spent was $20 for the rod – i love it when i already have stuff laying around that i can finally use :) I had some wood shelf brackets, drilled a big round hole for the rod.  I had to add a 2×4 behind the bracket to make it stick out a little further so the rod wouldn’t be recessed – otherwise i wouldn’t have been able to hang hangers, not good when your trying to get some laundry done…   I gave it all a coat of black paint [...]

{flowers in old mason jars}

{flowers in old mason jars}

> I have been trying to collect old mason jars for a while now – i can think of a ton of things to do with them – too many in fact!  So why i am just barely getting around to using them now?  Who knows!  But i have had this idea in the back of my little head for a while now and now that i refinished my coffee table (will be posting that soon) i thought it is as good as time as any to put them to use :)  And i love when an idea turns out just as i had imagined. These are three of the blue mason jars that i have been able to find.  Two of them came from goodwill for .50 each and the middle one i just got a couple of days ago from a house that my dad and brother were [...]

Go and check out how i transformed this little dresser with just a few easy steps – i love the way it turned out.  I was going to sell it but its just too cute :) It involved a little paint, a little distressing and a cute little birdie surprise!

{Why i have been MIA…}

{Why i have been MIA…}

> I know, i have been a bad, bad blogger.  Its been over a week with no post, not that i am not busy, just haven’t even been thinking about turning on the computer – i have about a gazillion emails to reply too, so if you are waiting for a reply i will get to you soon :) So the reason for my bad blogerness (yup that’s now a word) is that my husband came home from Iraq on thursday, he has been gone since July 09’ – so we are just kind of  hanging out, working on the yard and doing some small projects here and there. See this is him!!!  He was the first one out of formation running to see the kids, and me of course :) I have made a few changes to the laundry room since this post, so i will be back tomorrow [...]

{slip-cover love}

{slip-cover love}

> I have had a serious love for white slip-covers for some time now…why i didn’t buy couches that were already slip covered 3 years ago when i bought these?  don’t know… But about a year 1/2 after we bought the couches the back cushions were starting to separate from the couch – these couches were not cheap.  Also about that same time i changed the paint colors in my family room/kitchen.  The couches still matched ok but they were crying out “cover me Sausha, cover me!!!” So i bought the fabric a year 1/2 ago and it sat there – all this time…  At first i was super pumped and ready to go, then i got intimidated – then i got busy with other stuff. So in January my brother started the sofa for me (he used to re-upholster furniture), then he got busy and wasn’t able to finish [...]

{randomness}

{randomness}

> My sis-in-law told me a couple days ago about these cute little white ceramic cookie jars @ Costco.  White and ceramic??  I must go and check them out.  Glad i did because they were super cute, and super cheap.  All 3 for $25.  Did i need them?…no…did i want them?…yes…did i buy them?…of course :) I had no idea what to do with them, but then i had a “moment” at work and thought that they could be super cute as new utensil holders.  Should i admit that i am not always thinking of work when i am @ work – shhhhh, don’t tell ;) Jars… Old holder…which i still love, i love the texture/naturalness of it Now…all lined up? Nah…i like it better a little messed up :)   What do you think?  The old one or the new ones?  I like both

{mirror questions}

{mirror questions}

> I am sporadic on my postings – I am sorry :)  Its not that i am not busy – it just hasn’t been the fun stuff that you guys all want to see, unless you want to see scrubbing cabinet doors, mopboards and organizing drawers?  I have started on a couple of small projects though – that hopefully i can show you in the next couple of days. Until then, i have had quite a few questions on one part of my mirror molding that i just posted about.  People are asking about how the side of  the mirror looks.  Whether i overlapped my molding to cover the edge of the mirror – or how i dealt with that. All i did was line up my molding even with the mirror – then painted the edge of the molding black  to match the mirror.  So now when you look [...]

{framed mirror tutorial}

{framed mirror tutorial}

> Finally!  This mirror has been done for a little bit but i have just had too much going on to write this post (or any post!), but here it is… First i have to tell you that this my third mirror and my last, yeah!!!  And all 3 have been done different ways.  I just went with a different style in each room and just made it up as i went along – that’s how i do things :) For this mirror, i had a little challenge.  You can see in the 1st pic that for some reason the builder put a plug-in – in the mirror!  Why?!  I have no idea why they couldn’t move it over a foot – but instead i had this lovely mirrored, beveled, 80’s looking plug cover plate right smack in the bottom corner of my mirror. I knew that the plug in [...]
