{halloween decor – just a little…}

{halloween decor – just a little…}

> I wanted to do a ton of decorating for Halloween this year, i LOVE Halloween -  i had plans, BIG plans i tell ya, but things got in the way.  I have sold a bunch of furniture lately and some custom orders in the works – so i am busy!  I’ll post some before and afters soon :) Until then, here is a my mantel that i threw together.  I had some old shutters – spray painted them black, sanded them down, and then screwed them together all crazy like. I think it needs something in the middle of the shutters – i tried a book wreath but i wasn’t feelin it… I stopped on the way home from work and broke some sticks off an old dead tree then i threw some spanish moss on them and some little dollar store birdies – i wish i would have […]

{Dresser turned entry table turned bench – are you following?!}

{Dresser turned entry table turned bench – are you following?!}

> You may remember my dresser turned entry table that i posted about here, and then i got a new entry table that i posted about here.  Well, i have taken the old entry table and turned it into a bench. When i was building the old entry table (in its former life it was a dresser), before i had added the legs i thought that it would be a pretty cute bench, but i didn’t need a bench.  Well, i still don’t need a bench and that’s why I’m selling it, but i still wanted to post it to show you guys  – and maybe you have an old dresser lying around that could be modified?  Plus it makes a very unique bench with a little storage.  I actually love the idea of having a bench at the end of my bed – somewhere to throw the pillows, and […]

{Entry way dresser – switcharoo}

{Entry way dresser – switcharoo}

> Long time no see…sorry about that :)  I have a ton of projects in the works, some fun – some not so fun.  Mostly just a lot of cleaning and “dejunking” my house getting ready for some new house projects – ya!!!! I did want to show you guys a little dresser that i worked on a couple of weeks ago.  I got it at goodwill for $40 a few months back and knew that she would be looking super cute all fixed up.  I didn’t plan on keeping the dresser – but when i brought it inside to take a picture to post for sale, my husband said that he liked the new one better.  I wasn’t too sure at first – but sometimes (and only sometimes) i let him have his way :) The new dresser does provide more storage so i like that part (also it […]

> I will be the very 1st one to admit that i have been a bad, bad blogger lately.  I don’t keep up on posts, i don’t keep up on emails, i  have a hard time even keeping up on my things that “have” to be done – like taking showers…brushing my teeth…just kiddin, i do get to those things :) But, for reals.  I am definitely having a hard time finding the right balance to keep up this blog and having a husband :)  When he was in Iraq, and i started this blog i had time every night after the kiddies were in bed to check out all my favorite blogs and do a post for my own blog every couple of days.  NOW, not so much.  Husbands require attention (go figure), and after a long day its nice to have time to have time to talk with […]

{bad, bad brass = fake schoolhouse light}

{bad, bad brass = fake schoolhouse light}

>  I have slowly replaced almost all the builder lights in my house with those that fit my style more and have a little more character – one of the last rooms being kdin’s room (my 11 year old son). I come across a ton of cheap chandeliers @ goodwill that have potential and a ton of 80’s brass crap with zero potential (at least for my style anyways).  So when i saw this cute brass fixture for $8 bucks i snagged it up.  It has all the lines of the old galvanized schoolhouse lights that i love.  I love anything galvanized….sigh…. Anyways, i painted it with a silver metallic spray paint (no primer, just a few light coats of the spray paint so it didn’t bubble).  After it was dry it was a little to “new” looking, so i took some American Tradition black glaze and wiped it over […]

{my grandma got hitched…!!!}

{my grandma got hitched…!!!}

> Just this last Saturday my grandma got married!!  My grandpa died a few years ago and i never thought that she would re-marry.  But about a year and a half ago she met David, we loved him from the beginning and knew he would fit right in with our  crazy family :) Saturday was the big day – it was a simple wedding that was in my mom and dads backyard.  They have a sweet backyard – my dads “baby”!!  He spends so much time back there and has done everything himself – all the landscaping, the building, the designing, the weed picking (well, i am sure my mom helped a little too…)  And its well worth all the time that he spends on it, it was a perfect setting for the wedding. My dad built his ‘japanese tea house’ – renamed this week ‘the wedding chapel’ a couple […]

{I’m back….}

> Ok, i have had a nice little blog break and i am ready to get going again! My husband came home on Friday and i feel like i can now get back to what i love to do. I wore myself out – i was going a million miles an hour, i was wore out physically and mentally – but i have had some time to rejuvenate and with my hubs being home that has lifted a big weight off my shoulders :) I didn’t even go to a thrift store for about a month….what was wrong with me?!?! Think of the things that i missed out on…..sad, sad, sad….!!! I don’t mind him being gone a few weeks here and there – actually i kind of like it (don’t tell him that!) – i can get a ton done, i don’t have to fix dinner (well, real dinner […]

{some laundry room love}

{some laundry room love}

> Recently Emily from Finding My Aloha sent me an email about her finished laundry room.  She was already planning on building a riser for her front loaders but found inspiration in my laundry room with storing the laundry baskets underneath. She built the riser with wood that she already had, added bead board, got some cute cabinets for $5, painted everything and WA LA – laundry room love :) I love her space, its bright and sunny and even though doing laundry sucks, having a cute/functional laundry room does make it a teensy tiny bit better.   And now she can at least she can shove all that undone laundry in those baskets and tuck them away – no one will ever see – and i am not speaking from experience because i would never do that!! – wink/wink ;) Anyways – go and check out more pics of  her […]

>{i have lost it….i got nothin!}

> Have you guys ever lost ALL motivation?!  Well, i am there – i have ZERO motivation….nothing…zip…zilch…nadda… I have hardly even looked at any blogs in the last 2 weeks – something i normally do daily.  I am just not in the mood for it – its a little sad really.  Normally when i think about the projects that i want to do in my house i get so EXCITED – my heart beats faster and i think about it all the time.  At this time i have some projects in the works – but nothing is getting me going. My husband left out of state for work about 3 weeks ago and will be home in another 3 weeks – i HAD big plans…big big plans…but now i am just not feelin it.  I really need to get motivated because i promised him that i would have a few […]
